Chapter 11

HELLO! Hello! Hello!

“Here we are!” shouted the professor. He leaped out of the van and opened the back. He took out a special flashlight. It was hooked to a power pack that Actual Factual slipped onto his back.

The scouts were slow getting out of the van. They stared at the cave’s jagged mouth. It looked even scarier in real life than it looked in Ralph’s slide.

The professor had gone over to look at a sign that had been put up in front of the cave. “Goodness!” he said. “This is much more serious than I thought.” As the scouts joined him, Actual Factual read the sign aloud.

“‘Future home of Ralph’s Caverama, the Underground Wonderland. Groundbreaking will take place on the twenty-seventh of this month.’ And it’s signed, ‘Ralph Ripoff, President, The Ripoff Company,’ and ‘Horace J. Honeypot, Mayor.’”

“Good grief!” cried Brother. “That’s tomorrow!”
